Poker: The Rules

Im posting this from Dave's machine. I thought I would post the rules for anyone who doesn't know how to play very well. They are house rules for anyone who knows the game well, and are desinged to keep everything as simple as possible. Anyway, the rules

Hands from the best to the worst

Royal Flush -
the best possible hand in PokerAce, King, Queen, Jack and 10, all of the same suit.

Straight Flush
Any five-card sequence in the same suit (e.g.: 8, 9, 10, Jack and Queen of clubs; or 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of diamonds).

Four of a Kind
All four cards of the same value (e.g.: 8, 8, 8, 8; or Queen, Queen, Queen, Queen).

Full House
Three of a kind combined with a pair (e.g.: 10, 10, 10 with 6, 6; or King, King, King with 5, 5).

Flush
Any five cards of the same suit, but not in sequence (e.g.: 4, 5, 7, 10 and King of spades).

Straight
Five cards in sequence, but not in the same suit (e.g.: 7 of clubs, 8 of clubs, 9 of diamonds, 10 of spades and Jack of diamonds).

Three of a Kind
Three cards of the same value (e.g.: 3, 3, 3; or Jack, Jack, Jack). Two PairTwo separate pairs (e.g.: 2, 2, Queen, Queen).

Pair
Two cards of the same value (e.g.: 7, 7).

High Card
If a Poker hand contains none of the above combinations, it's valued by the highest card in it.

The House Rules

1) The Small and Big Blinds

The Big Blind is twice the amount of the Small Blind (Amount still to be decided)
The person directly left of the person with the dealer button places the small blind
The person directly left of the person who places the small blind places the big blind
The reason for this is so that there is always at least some money in the pot

2) The Deal

The dealer button always mover one place clockwise after every hand
The dealer always deals to his left
The dealer deals two cards to each player

3) The first round of betting

After the deal everyone will have two cards in their hand
The person directly left of the person who plays the big blind is the first person to bet
For all intents and purposes there will be no limit on how much you can bet and all-ins will be possible
There are 4 possible actions at this time
1) Call (equal the amount of money staked by the player before)
2) Raise (equal the amount staked by the player before and raise stake above that)
3) Fold (don’t put in any chips and return your cards to the dealer)
4) Check (seems complicated but isn't. The first person left of the dealer can check. This mean no chips are placed by that person. This can be followed the whole way around with no chips being placed in that round of betting. However, if somone decideds to make a bet then no more checks can be made for that round of betting. Checks are useful if you want to see what the other people are going to do without risking any of your chips)
The betting stops when everyone has called and everyone has put the same amount of chips in the pot

4) The Flop

After all betting has stopped the dealer then deals the flop (3 cards in the middle of the table)

5) The Second Round of Betting

See step 3

6) The Turn Card

The dealer lays one card in the middle of the table

7) The Third Round of Betting

See step 3

8) The River Card

The dealer lays the final card in the middle of the table

9) The Final Round of Betting

See step 3

10) The Winner

The person nearest to the left of the dealer still left in reveals their hand and this progresses clockwise until a winner is identified (there are variations to this)
The pot is then awarded to the best hand

11) Pass the Dealer Chip to the left

Any questions give me a bell,

Round at mine for 7.30, bring beer and if you want, snacks

Cheers

Thinking £5 pound per pot. At least for a couple of games, then make it less or for fun. If anyones not happy about the amount let me know, money don't grow on trees
